No. MoodDiary has no accounts — open it and start. We do not ask for an email address, a name, a phone number or a date of birth. The Pro purchase is verified by your Apple ID or Google account, so we cannot even see whether you bought it.

No. Everything sits on your device and works offline. Pro includes a backup that runs only when you press it, writing to your own iCloud or Google storage that only you can see — a manual backup and restore, not automatic sync, and our servers are never involved. The sentiment read is keyword matching on the device, and what you wrote never leaves your phone.

No. The sentiment read is plain keyword matching — 16 positive words and 16 negative ones — running entirely on your device. The year-in-review text is assembled on the phone from rules and templates, not written by AI. We connect to no cloud language model, and your entries are not sent anywhere.

Free: unlimited mood logging (the core, free forever), 20 diary entries, 8 countdowns, one reminder on the day, the basic colour theme, monthly stats and streak celebrations. Pro is NT$60 once: unlimited entries, multi-stage countdown reminders and yearly repeats, more than 20 colour themes, 4K watermark-free export, side-by-side years and fuller stats.

They are deliberately separate. The diary is something you write every day, and keeping it text-only keeps permissions at a minimum. A countdown is one of a handful of days you genuinely care about, where a cover photo earns its place — so the photo library is requested only when you pick a cover, only the image you choose is taken, it is copied into the app's own space and stays on the device, and the library itself is never read.

On Pro: run a backup on the old phone, sign in to the same Apple ID or Google account on the new one, and restore. On the free tier, export and import by hand. The Pro unlock itself travels through Restore Purchases on the App Store or Play Store.

No. Purchases on iPhone are held against your Apple ID and purchases on Android against your Google account, and the two stores do not share them.

It checks your entry for 16 built-in positive words and 16 negative ones and sorts the day into positive, neutral or low by how many of each turn up. The upside is that it is instant, local and never uploaded. The limit is that it cannot hear sarcasm or negation — "not happy at all today" may well read as positive. So treat it as a rough statistic; the square you tapped yourself is the accurate part.

Really not. On your phone it first works out the year's completion rate, average mood, most common mood and the highest and lowest months, then picks the matching sentence patterns and fills in those figures. The same numbers always produce the same sentences, no generative model is involved, and your entries are not sent anywhere.

They do not. Days are counted by subtracting calendar dates, not by dividing an elapsed span by 24 hours — on the day the clocks change, the latter loses a day. So "days left", "days since" and "days in a row" all follow the calendar, and travelling across time zones will not make the number jump.

Every reminder is scheduled on your phone, with no push server involved. The daily logging reminder defaults to 9pm and can be changed in settings; countdown reminders arrive on the morning of the day you set — one on the day on the free tier, and several days beforehand with Pro. Battery saving can delay a notification by a few minutes, which is system behaviour; missing one changes nothing in your data, and it is all there when you open the app.

There is no AI in the app today and nothing AI-related is being sold. We only list what already works and do not advertise what does not exist. If that ever changes, entries staying off the cloud will not, and we will say so on this page first.

Not at the moment. Every app stores its data differently, and pouring several years in at once fills all 365 squares immediately, which rather defeats the point of one square a day. If you really need it, tell us on the contact page which app you are coming from and we will look into it.

The grid is the whole point of the app; locking it would mean nobody uses it, so it stays free with no limit. The income is the NT$60 one-time Pro: unlimited diary entries, multi-stage and yearly countdown reminders, colour themes, 4K watermark-free export and side-by-side years. No subscription, no ads, and nothing sold on.

No. That page lists the open components the app uses directly — for drawing charts, storing the local database, producing the share image and so on. All are publicly auditable projects, and none is an advertising or behavioural analytics tool. The app makes no outbound connections at all, and none of these components is used to send anything.
